Third Interview Questions

For my third interview I plan on interviewing Paul Ender, the yearbook design guru!
I plan on asking the following questions:

  1.  How long have you been doing yearbook? How long have you been advising?
  2. How do you think yearbook staffs like Casa Roble and Brentwood continue to make award winning yearbooks every single year? How do they keep that edge on everyone else?
  3. When did you start working for Herff Jones?
  4. What is the key aspect in creating a notable yearbook design?
  5. How important is it to follow design trends?
  6.  How important is the advisor to an award winning yearbook staff?
  7. What does your job, special consultant, entail?
  8. When designing, how important is it to use grids?
  9. What journalistic elements other than main body copy should be used on a yearbook spread?
  10. How important is theme in a yearbook? How should one design all of the theme pages?
