What I've learned so far

1)  The yearbook world is changing. Staffs across the country as upping the ante and creating books that include brilliant graphic design, excellent journalism and photography that leaves people awe-struck. I've learned that the some very important aspects in creating a notable yearbook design are: designing with concept, using inspiration from the professionals and excellent photography.

(In order to conceal the theme and maintain the overall secrecy stigma of the yearbook this year, I'm opting not to post actual spreads from the yearbook)



2) Even though I've been on a yearbook staff since the 7th grade, as the EIC I have learned so much. I have learned so much about myself and about being a leader. Sure, I've worked in groups before but running a publication is a whole different ballpark. I am proud of what the yearbook staff and I have accomplished so far. I can see vast improvement in their designs as well as my own.

3) Lastly, I've learned so many new tips & tricks in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign which has significantly shortened the amount of time that I spend on a yearbook spread. It is very important to be tech-savvy when creating a yearbook because it improves the quality of the product.
