(1) Define possible terms in your EQ (e.g. successful, effective).
aspect - a portion of a larger entity, meaning that there are many different factors in creating a good yearbook design
notable - "note-worthy", a design that someone, upon looking at it, will be so impressed that they are inspired by it or take a second look.
(2) So far based on your research, what are possible answers to your EQ?
Based on my research I have found that the most important aspects in creating a notable yearbook design are:
- Drawing inspiration from an exemplary piece of graphic design, often times done by a professional.
- Excellent photography; it makes a design "pop"
- Good knowledge of one's tools such as: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
(3) What has been your most important printed source and why?
Definitely the "Yearbooks @ the Beach: Camp Curriculum" handbook, it covers an array of topics and explains them thoroughly. I have used this book the most for my research checks because it has been very helpful of answering my EQ. It has given me ideas for different aspects of yearbook design to search that I normally would not have thought of such as "typography, black and white photography etc."
This looks good...as we talked about, you are going to need to branch out to graphic design and typeface.
